My sister-in-law and I really like to spend time together. We live seventy miles apart so we don’t get to see one another as frequently as we might like, however we try and have time together at least monthly.
One of our fave things to do is to go to a duvet store in the town that is found between our houses. My sister-in-law is a particularly presented quilter.
I have done some quilting, however it’s not that I am in a position to match colours and textures in the talented way that she does. We are going to the quilt store to see what is new for each season as well as to come up with ideas for covering projects. My sister-in-law has a special duvet hanger in her kitchen area. She has made a covered wall hanging for each season to hang in this space. She also makes covered hangings and lap covers for other people. She does this while she is watching TV in the evenings. In the last trip to the duvet store she was trying to find a concept for a baby cover for our niece’s new baby. They had many covers that were in particular for girls and other people that were for boys.
Our niece had a baby girl ; however she isn’t the type that goes for the frilly ruffles that were a part of the majority of the baby girl duvets. My sister-in-law selected a nursery rhymes pattern for the material.
While we were at the cover store I realized that they’d patterns for making bag purses. The bag purses were made of plain canvas material. The handles for the purse were circles of bamboo that were sewn into the purse.
I assumed it’d be fun to make them as gifts for chums. I presumed I’d focus on making them bigger in size with a tropical theme so they may be used as beach bags. 2 of my sisters were planning a visit to Mexico after the holidays so I was under the impression that they could use the bags then. I also found a great pattern for a Xmas wall hanging at the quilt store. My sister-in-law and I are going to work on cutting out the pieces during our next weekend together. I am certain that we’ll make another trip to the duvet store shortly to see what other treasures we will find.
